Ange was born on July 3rd, 2019, with a challenging medical condition known as rickets. This condition causes the softening and weakening of bones due to inadequate vitamin D and other essential minerals. For Ange, this led to a significant issue—bilateral genu varum, or bow legs. From a very young age, Ange faced obstacles that many others couldn’t imagine.
By the time Ange met with the team at Love with Actions (LWA), her condition had become severe. Walking was an agonizing struggle, and she experienced constant pain in both of her knees. The situation had worsened to the point where she had to completely stop her medications due to a lack of resources. The financial strain on her family made it impossible for them to afford the medications, as well as the assistive devices she desperately needed.
Seeing her struggle, Love with Actions stepped in to help. Understanding the urgency of her situation, LWA began providing the necessary medications and began physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) at their center. The goal was not just to treat her symptoms but to help her regain mobility and independence.
But the journey didn’t stop there. Love with Actions also recognized that surgery was necessary to correct the deformities that had affected Ange’s mobility and quality of life. Through the support and generosity of donors and the community, LWA facilitated the surgery, giving Ange the chance to live a life free of constant pain.
Ange’s story is one of courage, resilience, and the power of community support. Thanks to the unwavering support of Love with Actions, her life has been transformed. With the help of therapy, medical care, and the corrective surgery, Ange now has the opportunity to walk pain-free and live a full, active life.
Her journey is a reminder that even in the darkest times, love and compassion can lead the way to healing and hope.
