Anicet Byukusenge, born on 14 May 2019, is the youngest of four children in the loving family of Ildephonse and Clementine. He was born with a congenital malformation of the left lower leg (Congenital Tibial Pseudarthrosis), a condition that prevented him from standing or walking and forced him to rely on crawling for mobility. He later underwent an amputation at Rilima Orthopedic Specialized Hospital to improve his quality of life.
His mother remembers painful evenings when people in the community mistook him for small animals in the darkness and threw stones—heartbreaking moments that revealed the deep stigma they faced.
Since joining Love With Actions, Anicet’s life has changed dramatically. He received surgery, a prosthetic limb, and crutches, and he now walks independently and proudly attends school at Love With Actions Academy.
Today, his mother feels renewed hope. She has found supportive friends who do not judge her for having a child with a disability, and she celebrates Anicet’s remarkable progress in mobility, confidence, and overall development. She is deeply grateful to the dedicated doctors, physical therapists, and occupational therapists at LWA whose commitment has transformed Anicet’s life.
