Jean de Dieu is a bright, courageous young boy whose story is one of resilience, love, and transformation.
At just three years old, Jean de Dieu suffered a traumatic brain injury that dramatically changed his life. Once full of energy and laughter, he suddenly lost the ability to walk, talk, or even turn himself over in bed. His family was heartbroken, overcome with grief and self-blame, unsure how they could ever help their beloved son regain his independence.
In 2017, Jean de Dieu and his family found a lifeline through Love With Actions (LWA). Over the past six years, through compassionate care, dedicated therapy, and consistent support, Jean de Dieu’s life has taken a remarkable turn.
With access to physical therapy, occupational therapy, and essential medications provided by LWA, Jean de Dieu slowly began to recover. He regained strength in his neck, rediscovered his radiant smile, and eventually took his first steps again. Today, he can walk, write, play, and laugh with friends — joys that once seemed out of reach.
He is now proudly attending Love With Actions Academy, where he is in first grade. His determination shines brightly: he is learning to walk more independently, using his arms with increasing control, writing, and enthusiastically socializing with his classmates. Jean de Dieu is a quick learner and a very smart boy — his teachers and peers adore him.
LWA’s support extended beyond therapy. The organization also gifted his family a goat, empowering them with an additional source of income and sustenance.
Each year, Jean de Dieu continues to make incredible progress. His story is a powerful testament to what love, action, and unwavering commitment can achieve.
Jean de Dieu’s smile reminds us all that no challenge is too great when surrounded by a community that believes in you.
