Born a fighter. Blossoming with love.

On 7th July 2018, the world welcomed Emima, a beautiful baby girl born prematurely to proud parents Ernestine and Jean Claude, and her older sister Divine. But Emima’s first breaths came with extraordinary challenges. Diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition that caused a dangerous buildup of fluid in her brain, she faced a journey many could scarcely imagine.

By 2019, Emima came into the care of Love With Actions (LWA). At just under a year old, her fragile frame bore the marks of severe malnutrition and developmental delays. Her head, swollen from the untreated hydrocephalus, appeared much larger than her tiny body. She was unable to hold her head upright, turn herself in bed, speak, or feed herself. But despite her limitations, her gentle spirit and quiet strength shone through.

A Turning Point

In May 2019, with the love and support of LWA, Emima underwent life-saving surgery to insert a shunt that would drain the excess fluid from her brain. The procedure was a success — and it marked the beginning of a new chapter.

Back in the care of LWA, Emima embarked on an intensive program of nutrition support and physiotherapy. Day by day, through every meal, stretch, and gentle word of encouragement, her body grew stronger — and her light began to shine brighter.

Blossoming into Herself

Today, Emima is nothing short of remarkable. She has transformed from a fragile infant into a vibrant, joyful little girl. Her milestones tell a story of resilience and determination:

  • She can hold and chew food, feeding herself independently.
  • She can hold her head upright and maintain a sitting position on her own for up to 30 minutes.
  • She is able to turn herself in bed, rolling from her back to her tummy and back again.
  • She can drink from a cup without assistance.
  • She plays with other children joyfully, engaging and laughing while sitting upright.
  • She can now speak multiple words, expressing herself and connecting with those around her in ways we once only dreamed of.
  • She is going to school at Love with Actions Academy

A Testament to Love in Action

Emima’s journey is more than a story of medical interventions or therapies — it is a testament to what happens when love meets action. Through the unwavering support of her family, the dedication of the LWA team, and her own unbreakable spirit, Emima has blossomed into the healthy, happy little girl she was always meant to be.

Her journey continues — but today, she moves forward with strength, joy, and a bright future ahead.
