Benson’s Story

Birthday: October 5, 2023

Benson Mugisha is a bright, resilient 1-year-old boy whose journey has already touched many hearts. Born with cerebral palsy, Benson faced significant challenges from the very beginning of his life. Unable to sit properly or turn over when lying in bed, his condition left him highly vulnerable.

His parents, Berna and her husband, struggled under the weight of circumstances beyond their control. Without a home, stable employment, or financial resources, they were overwhelmed. Like many families in Rwanda affected by disability, they endured discrimination and isolation. Their community turned away from them, leaving them to face these hardships alone.

But everything began to change when Benson came to Love With Actions (LWA). In just three months under the care of LWA, Benson made remarkable progress. He is no longer malnourished, and for the first time, he can turn over by himself and move more freely. These small but powerful milestones have brought hope and joy back into Berna and her husband’s lives.

With support from LWA, Benson now receives free occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT). He has access to the medications he needs, and his parents are no longer walking this journey alone.

Where there was once despair, there is now possibility. Berna and her husband believe in a brighter future for their son. Benson’s story is one of hope, healing, and the power of community.

Thank you for being part of Benson’s journey.
