Age: 9

Lucky Manzi was born a healthy on 29/09/2016, vibrant child — full of promise and possibility. However, when he was just four months old, his life took an unexpected and challenging turn. After suffering from pneumonia and cerebral malaria, Lucky became unconscious. The effects of these illnesses were profound and lasting. As he grew, it became clear that he faced significant developmental challenges. Eventually, Lucky was diagnosed with autism, accompanied by developmental delays.

When Lucky and his family first came to LWA, he was unable to sit, stand, or walk on his own. His mother shared that, until that point, they had never sought formal medical care or therapeutic services for him. The family had been navigating these difficulties alone, without guidance or support.

LWA stepped in to walk alongside Lucky and his family. Through education and compassionate guidance, LWA encouraged the family to pursue appropriate medical consultations. Today, Lucky is receiving psychiatric medications and actively participating in both physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) at the LWA Center.

With continued therapy, medical care, and unwavering family support, Lucky is making steady progress — building strength, confidence, and new skills every day. His journey is a testament to the power of early intervention, community support, and hope.

At LWA, we are honored to be a part of Lucky’s story and to support him as he moves toward greater independence and a brighter future.
