We are so grateful today for what is happening at Love with Actions in our daily work to support and advocate for children with disabilities.
we want to share how God is working to provide education for our children with disabilities. We are currently using two rooms in our center for special education classes, serving 16 of our children. We call our school Good Shepherd Academy. Love with Actions would now like to build a modern 4 room school to serve even more of our children, the school is for children with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, brain injury and other special needs. These children aren’t welcomed in local schools because of physical barriers and because teachers aren’t trained how to teach them. Without Good Shepherd Academy these children would stay home alone all day when their mothers are going for work or doing other business. Our school will offer the kids a place where they can come to socialize, learn and receive a nutritious meal.
Good Shepherd Academy construction plan:
1. Welcome center and reception
2. Lower level: Physical and occupational therapy rooms, storage, kitchen, bathroom
3. Upper level: 4 classrooms, staff offices, prayer room, dining area, bathrooms
4. Grounds: relocate our present playground
Good Shepherd Academy goals:
1. To demonstrate to the community the rights of people with disabilities
2. To ensure that no one is left behind in education
3. To employ people with disabilities after they graduate from GSA
