Caleb is the cherished son of Capitoline and Bertin, the second of five children in their loving and joyful family. Born on 26 January 2022, Caleb is a bright and amazing young boy living with Rickets and Genu Varum. His condition presents with enlarged bone ends, an abnormal gait, a wide gap between his knees, curved lower limb bones, and reduced muscle strength. He is currently receiving Vitamin D therapy (D-cure) at Inkuru Nziza Orthopedic Specialized Hospital.
Caleb often experiences pain and difficulty walking on uneven surfaces, which limits his ability to attend school regularly and play freely with other children. His mother has also faced hurtful remarks from some community members who described her child as “deformed” or “too short,” adding emotional hardship to an already challenging journey. Because of Caleb’s needs, she has also been unable to work and support her husband in providing for the family.
Since joining Love With Actions, Caleb has begun attending a public school, and his mother has found renewed hope, comfort, and a sense of belonging. She has connected with other parents who understand and welcome her, free from judgment or stigma. She has also witnessed tremendous improvements in Caleb, thanks to the dedicated doctors at Inkuru Nziza Hospital and the consistent physical and occupational therapy he receives through LWA.
